Tatting in the Wilds

Sad news - the group that ran the Virginia State Fair has gone bankrupt - No More State Fair.

Never having gone to a state fair as a child, I went looking for information on the Pennsylvania State Fair. I found this handy county fair web guide with map: 2011 PA Fair Guide

I grew up in the green section of the map labelled "Pennsylvania Wilds." Who knew the sleepy borough of my youth was in the wilds?

Do you tat in the wilds?
Tatting in the "wilds" sounds like civilized handwork gone rogue, suddenly untamed and free. But we all know that before the Internet age, most of us tatted in the wilds. Separate and alone.

If you or someone you know tats in the wilds, I would love to know.

Want a sneak peek of the project I have been working on?

It has been a pick-up-and-put-down project for the past month. Not because the pattern is difficult, rather too many interruptions and distractions. I hope to finish it this weekend.

Ambitatterous,
Your tatting looks wonderful. Sometimes good work does take time to do. Plus life as away of distractions & mixing up excitement too. As for tatting in the wild, yes I do know what you mean by that. I have a feeling that state fairs are going to be affected in lots of places now. I remember when counties had fairs & towns had their celebrations no matter how small they was. But those are things of the past too, I'm afraid. Cause not all towns do that much anymore. Just remember you are not alone. There are others like you yet & some of them don't have the internet either. So smile & keep tatting with pride.

I tat in the wilds of the Canadian bush. I haven't met anyone else who tats, except through blogland. So I guess I've been a lone tatter since I learned in a night class. I think it would be exciting and energizing to be in a tatting group, working away together, chatting, tatting, and talking thread!
Love the sparkle of blue with the white. I look forward to the reveal.

I grew up in Philadelphia and Its Countryside... well, I grew up in Philadelphia and sometimes visited its countryside!

I never thought of Pennsylvania as being wild, probably because I lived in the city.

Blue Swarovski crystal? Ooh! I love blue, Swarovski, and tatting... what a fantastic combo!

pretty Map, lots of fairs.
our state fair is always in Minot ND. due to the flooding that occured there this past year, the fair for 2011 was canceled. but it is back on for 2012. This is farming country. have to have county and state fairs so you can show off your produce, and the 4-H'rs can sell their animal entrys.

Glad to 'see' you again; it's been awhile.

Sad to see the end of a state fair. The Kansas State Fair is pretty big, I guess, I can't imagine there not being one.

Hmm, don't have any idea what you are making, but the peak you've given us looks mighty pretty!

When I am tatting at our cabin in the mountains of NC I am in the "wild" no one is near-by except the wild turkeys, that walk around the yard in the early mornings and just before roosting at night, the deer, the bears, raccoon, skunks, and a strange sounding cougar like call during the night....no internet and no cell phone coverage.....yes, I tat in the "wilds"
