Springtime Greenery

For this drizzly Tatting Tea Tuesday, I offer up a few cheerful photos taken last week during a morning stroll around my neighborhood block. Walk with me...

Purple Tulips
First up are deep purple tulips in my front yard. These were planted seven years ago, before The Sprout was born. (The Sprout's blog name will soon be changing to Sapling since, at the ripe old age of 6 years, he says "Sprout is for babies.")

Lovely tulips from neighbor's garden
While I love my rich purple tulips, they don't hold a candle to the neighbor's cheerful, rainbow-colored blooms.  Aren't they stunning?

Lilacs (top) balanced by crisp, white azalea

The neighbor on the corner has captivating lilacs. The spring air is softly scented with their perfume. The whole front yard is gorgeous and it just burst into bloom this way. *le sigh*

White dogwood

Across the street from the lovely lilacs are several townhomes with dogwood trees.

Pink dogwood

Dogwoods are unrivaled in beauty among the early Spring flowering trees.  Even more so than cherry blossoms in some circles.

Double-ruffled cherry blossoms in the morning light.

Along the public street the HOA plants these double cherry trees.  Gently shaking the branches grants you a delicate petal shower and pretty pink sidewalks.

In contrast to the double-ruffled cherry blossoms are these sweet petals from a weeping cherry.

Weeping Cherry

Well, that is all for now.  I hope you have enjoyed strolling around the block with me. I have surely enjoyed showing you the beauty of it. Now back to tatting.

  1. Thank you! It's especially nice as we have no spring and snow likely tomorrow!

  2. You are surrounded by beauty, thank you for sharing. The trees have been beautiful here in spite of the days of cold weather we have in between warm days. I just put out some flowers by my front door Sunday, hoping they make it through the week

  4. You have some beautiful trees and shrubs to look at, my garden is not as far advanced as yours,
The bleeding heart which usually flowers in February and would be over by now is only just coming up, the Lilly of the valley are only just showing, and it's the 1st may they should be out, The Forsyth has been flowering for a week and half. There are still Daffodils in flower around the lanes and other gardens, I think parts of my garden must be four to six weeks behind. I don't think we shall get a proper spring as we will just go into summer with the spring flowers still flowering. We are now into British summer time and our clocks went forward at the end of march.

  5. Thanks for the view of springtime beauty! Although it's been pleasant for the last few days, there is nothing blooming in our yard yet. We have loads of bunnies, though!

  6. Beautiful views just outside your door. I noticed this morning that one of my azaleas is full of blooms. Thanks for reminding me to take more time to look around.
