Tatting, Interrupted

This week's Tatting Tea Tuesday post arrives a day late and maybe even a dollar short.

It has taken awhile, but The Sprout finally figured out how to delete an entire blog post while I was typing the final paragraph! Grrrr...

It is a testament to my love for him that I let him live.

I can't possibly recreate yesterday's post from memory, so here is the short recap. No tatting this past week.

Instead, I spent many hours researching household appliance reviews and the government's Cash for Appliances stimulus program. Clothes dryer is dead, dishwasher is dead, clothes washer declared dead on principle (it is over 12 years old). AND last evening we discovered a broken window that needs to be fixed before pumping more hard earned heating dollars (literally) out the window.

It has been a tough week.

But today I saw this Felt Holly Corsage on marthastewart.com and thought, "what a great start to a mixed media project for the holidays!"

Add tatted holly leaves on top of the felt and Voila!

(I know, we're all in the throws of Snowflake Madness or Tatted Gift Madness or whatever you are calling your holiday handcraft frenzy. Another project? No thanks.)

I plan to print this out and save it for next year. A nice, easy solution that actually reduces tatting tension levels!

Here is a sneak peek at a new holiday project I have allowed myself to start. It is related to a Christmas Eve dinner and gift exchange. Hopefully, I will be able to blog about it in a few days.

Oh, my, how hard you are on appliances! LOL! 12 years old, you said? Oh, my! Does this mean you get appliances for Christmas this year? It sounds like The Sprout wants to do what Mommy's doing. It doesn't sound like it's been your week!
It was great talking to you the other day. I was on my way to the post office to mail a Secret Santa package - and pick up a bunch of stamps. It's that time of year. (I do admire your restraint with the Sprout!)

It's even worse when you delete your entire post yourself with no one to blame. If it's a long post I try to train myself to copy it and paste into word so at least I will have some of it...or try to do a dash back to the saved draft before it saves my deletion.
Appliances have no stamina nowadays!
Hope you get it all fixed soon.

Oh my goodness. It has been a tough week for you. My appliances are at least that old maybe older. I tell everyone my fridge is going to the bathroom every couple of weeks. Not sure what that is about. My oven is goofy on the temperature, not sure how long that will last. As for the long post and it being deleted, I know how that goes. Little sprout was just helping, did you take a picture?, LOL. Too cute.

Uff da! Everything at once. Sounds like my luck. Go for that stimulus . . . And I usually do the deleting myself too. Oopsie!

I love the oval shape the motif is taking on. I have grand ideas of designing an oval doily someday!

Ah, just Murphy's Law in full gear! It will soon pass! As for Sprout - there's more of that in store, Ill wager

Love, love, love the little blue motif. Very pleasing!

Hang in there, Ann! Hope it all improves very soon!

So Sorry you are having a tough week. They don't make appliances like they use to that's for sure. I just hate it when something I've been working on gets deleted. I have done that so many times, it frustrating.

The lavender motif is lovely! It looks familiar. Mark Myers has one like that or something ver similar. Happy Holidays!!

Hi Isdihara, Just found Mark's pattern for the shuttle motif:

I thought it looked familiar, I have done this one before. I like how the motif is shaped.

Oh, that shuttle motif is very pretty. I love the thread color you used, too!

Oh, and...LOL...I think I'd be upset if someone deleted my blog post, too!

Tattrldy, I hope Santa doesn't have to lug hefty appliances down the chimney! LOL! The answer depends on if the Cash for Appliances Stimulus program kicks in before 2010.

Enjoy your Secret Santa swap! I didn't enter this year...too many home maintenance issues to deal with.

Tatskool, You're right! I have deleted my own posts too. And it is frustrating when you have no one to blame but yourself.

Rayanna, aging appliances often take on a life of their own. LOL! Sadly, I did not take a photo.

A Happy Bluebird, You might like this project, since you have a fondness for feathered creatures. (Ooh, a hint!)

Fox, Tatman gets all the credit for this graceful motif. It is his design.

Carol, huge thanks to you for finding Tatman's PDF file for the shuttle motif! I only had an image saved, and when I did a Google image search to find the source site, the links were broken. (I guess because his old site went down.) My memory isn't as good as it used to be, so I didn't remember who created it in 2002. Your memory is much better

TattingChic, thanks! Can you believe there were tiny blood stains on the scan? ACK! Sure enough, I found a tiny cut on my thumb. So I had to edit out the red in Photoshop! I can't remember the last time I bled on a lace project.

LadyShuttleMaker, thanks so much. I am such a fan of your wares and blog!
